Update on Barb Drake

Reworded a bit to spare you, in her words, “the lousy, one-handed typing,”

Barb is home, impressed by the flowers and visitors. Apparently the staff at OSF were as well.  She is not a lot of pain, will get her cast off next Friday, is struggling a bit with finger swelling but could be much worse. She sends her thanks to all her biking buddies, and anyone else that was involved with the flowers.

Ride Illinois Wants Your Feedback

Ride Illinois Logo

Dear Ride Illinois members/contacts in or near the Peoria area,

As part of our ongoing advocacy work, Ride Illinois has reviewed upcoming state road projects planned by your IDOT district over the next five years. We have drafted letters (linked below) asking IDOT for improved bicycling conditions when they work on these nearby roads. Our requests focus on priority locations and are meant to provide input at an appropriate level for the scope of the projects.

Please take a few moments to read our letters for roadwork near you, and let us know (ed@rideillinois.org or 630-978-0583) if you – or others you forward this to – have further suggestions.

– US150 eastbound McClugage Bridge  – Illinois River bridge replacement
– IL29 Adams St, south of US150 – resurfacing project
– IL40 Knoxville Ave, south end – resurfacing project
– Airport Rd over I-474 – bridge deck
– Pinecrest Rd bridge over I-74 in East Peoria – bridge superstructure and deck
– IL8 bridge in Edwards – bridge replacement
– IL29 bridge in Mossville – bridge replacement
– IL40 bridge in Edelstein – bridge replacement
– US24 in Creve Couer – resurfacing, add sidewalk
– IL117 from Goodfield to Eureka – resurfacing, add shoulders and rumble strips

– US24 bridge in Banner – bridge replacement

Ride Illinois is committed to helping communities around the state use road project opportunities like these to improve their bicycling conditions, and we’re working hard to influence state and local agencies at every step of the way. Please consider supporting our work by becoming a member or making a donation today. Your financial support is critical to our success.

Thanks,

Ed Barsotti, Chief Programs Officer, Ride Illinois

Are you in our mileage contest?

At the end of each year, IVW recognizes high mileage members. To make tracking easier, we pull the figures tracked by The National Bike Challenge. That service is free and allows automatic syncing with Strava and other methods. Here is a link that explains how to do it.
