Good morning all. I have a couple of events & happenings that I received the last several days to pass it on to the club.
Effective today, August 19th
The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that the Rock Island Trail will be closed at Allen Road in Peoria today through Friday, August 22nd. The closure is necessary for tree removal related to the nearby Allen Road improvement project and in advance of a tunnel for the trail that will be installed underneath Allen Road.
Tuesday, August 26th, 5:00-7:00pm
IDOT town hall meeting – IDOT is planning to add a bike/pedestrian lane as part of a total master plan to create a bike trail from the McClugage to the Bob Michaels bridge on both sides of the river. The meeting is August 26 (Tuesday) from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Washington Gifted School. It would be helpful if we could get more bicyclists to go to this meeting. It never hurts to show IDOT that there are lots of people interested with their plan.
